  • What are Semaglutide and Tirzepatide?
Semaglutide and tirzepatide are groundbreaking medications specifically designed to assist with weight loss and management, particularly for individuals struggling with obesity or overweight conditions. These drugs belong to a class of medications known as GLP-1 receptor agonists, which have shown remarkable efficacy in helping patients achieve and maintain healthy weight levels. What is Semaglutide? Semaglutide is a synthetic version of a natural hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). This hormone plays a crucial role in regulating appetite and glucose metabolism. By mimicking GLP-1, semaglutide helps to: Reduce Appetite: It signals to the brain that you are full, leading to decreased hunger and reduced caloric intake. Enhance Satiety: Semaglutide slows gastric emptying, allowing for longer feelings of fullness after meals. Improve Blood Sugar Control: This medication helps regulate blood sugar levels by stimulating insulin secretion when glucose levels are high, making it particularly beneficial for individuals with type 2 diabetes. What is Tirzepatide? Tirzepatide is a novel medication that acts on multiple receptors, including GLP-1, GIP (gastric inhibitory polypeptide), and glucagon. This multi-faceted approach offers several advantages, such as: Synergistic Effects: By activating different pathways, tirzepatide enhances weight loss effects more effectively than traditional GLP-1 receptor agonists. Weight Loss Support: Similar to semaglutide, tirzepatide reduces appetite and increases feelings of fullness, promoting healthy eating habits. Improved Metabolic Health: This medication not only aids in weight loss but also improves insulin sensitivity and overall metabolic function. How Semaglutide and Tirzepatide Work for Weight Loss Both semaglutide and tirzepatide support weight loss through several mechanisms: Appetite Regulation: They help manage hunger signals, leading to a natural reduction in caloric intake. Enhanced Satiety: Users often report feeling fuller for longer periods, which helps in controlling snacking and overeating. Metabolic Benefits: Beyond weight loss, both medications assist in improving metabolic markers, contributing to better overall health. Semaglutide and tirzepatide represent significant advancements in weight management therapies. Their unique mechanisms of action not only promote weight loss but also support overall health through improved metabolic function. If you are considering these medications for weight loss, consult your healthcare provider to discuss the best options tailored to your individual needs. Embracing these innovative treatments can be a transformative step towards achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.
  • Who is NOT a candidate for Semaglutide or Tirzepatide?
While semaglutide and tirzepatide offer significant benefits for weight loss and management, certain individuals may not be suitable candidates for these medications. It is essential to consult with a healthcare provider to determine the best treatment options based on individual health profiles. Here are groups of people who may need to avoid these medications: Semaglutide Individuals with a Personal or Family History of Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma (MTC): Semaglutide is contraindicated in individuals with a known history of MTC or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2), as it may increase the risk of thyroid tumors. Patients with Severe Gastrointestinal Disorders: Those with a history of gastroparesis or other severe gastrointestinal conditions may not tolerate semaglutide well due to its effects on gastric emptying. Allergic Reactions: Individuals who have had previous allergic reactions to semaglutide or any of its components should avoid this medication. Pregnant or Nursing Women: There is limited research on the safety of semaglutide during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so it is typically not recommended for these populations. Tirzepatide Individuals with a Personal or Family History of Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma (MTC): Similar to semaglutide, tirzepatide is contraindicated for those with a known history of MTC or MEN 2. Patients with Severe Gastrointestinal Disorders: Those with conditions like gastroparesis or severe inflammatory bowel disease may experience adverse effects due to the medication's impact on gastric motility. Allergic Reactions: Individuals who have previously experienced allergic reactions to tirzepatide or any of its components should not use this medication. Pregnant or Nursing Women: Safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established, making it advisable to avoid tirzepatide in these situations. Severe Kidney or Liver Issues: Individuals with severe renal or hepatic impairment may not be appropriate candidates due to the potential for altered drug metabolism and increased risk of side effects.
  • Do you offer Semaglutide or Tirzepatide to be purchased weekly instead of the 4-week intervals?
Yes, we do offer weekly shot option for clients who have already completed at least 4 weeks of the program. You can book online or call us at 404-855-5580.
  • What are the side effects of Semaglutide or Tirzepatide?
Side Effects of Semaglutide Semaglutide is generally well-tolerated, but some common side effects may include: Gastrointestinal Issues: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation are the most frequently reported side effects, especially during the initial stages of treatment. Injection Site Reactions: Redness, bruising, or discomfort at the injection site may occur. Hypoglycemia: In individuals with diabetes, semaglutide may increase the risk of low blood sugar levels, particularly when used in combination with other diabetes medications. Pancreatitis: Although rare, there is a small risk of developing pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) with semaglutide use. Side Effects of Tirzepatide Similar to semaglutide, tirzepatide may also cause the following side effects: Gastrointestinal Distress: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation are common, especially during the initial stages of treatment. Injection Site Reactions: Redness, bruising, or discomfort at the injection site may occur. Hypoglycemia: Tirzepatide may increase the risk of low blood sugar levels in individuals with diabetes, particularly when used in combination with other diabetes medications. Gallbladder-related Issues: There is a slightly increased risk of gallbladder disease or gallstones with tirzepatide use. It's important to note that the severity and likelihood of these side effects may vary from person to person. Patients should closely monitor their symptoms and report any concerns to their healthcare providers, who can provide guidance on managing side effects or adjusting the treatment plan as needed.
  • What are BOTOX, XEOMIN, DYSPORT, and DAXXIFY, and do they hurt?
Botox is the most commonly known neurotoxin, but they are all botulinum toxins used to relax a muscle and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Most people report little-to-no discomfort with this procedure. Neurotoxins are a good option to help with: Botox is the most commonly known neurotoxin, but they are all botulinum toxins used to relax a muscle and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Most people report little-to-no discomfort with this procedure. Neurotoxins are a good option to help with: · Smoothing the forehead · Softening the Angry 11’s · Lifting the brows · Smoothing crow’s feet and bunny lines (horizontal lines and the ridge of the nose) · Softening vertical lip lines or adding a “lip flip” · DAO’s: Lifting and upturn of the corners of the mouth · Gummy smiles · Platysmal bands (smoothing the neck) · Dimpling or creases in the chin · Masseter (strong/square jaws) softening · Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
  • Will I look “fake” after my treatment?
Treatments are customized to your own desired results. At VanityMD, we take a conservative, “less is more” approach to treatment, especially in clients who are new to the treatment because we can always add more if needed. Most clients report that people will often tell them that they look fresh, happier, and well-rested or that their skin looks so smooth, without realizing that it is thanks to our treatments!
  • What are dermal fillers, and do they hurt?
Dermal fillers such as Juvederm Ultra, Restylane, Voluma, Radiesse, Sculptra (just to name some) are used to fill or add volume to hollow areas. Fillers are a good option for: · Lifting and contouring the cheeks · Enhancing, shaping, and volumizing the lips · Minimizing smile lines (nasolabial folds, parentheses) · Filling hollowed temples · Sculpting the chin · Softening vertical lip lines (straw lines, smokers lines) · Minimizing the look of saggy jowls · Filling in the hands · Filling in odd dents and hollows · Hollowing under eyes/tear troughs Discomfort levels vary depending on your pain tolerance. We use a medical strength topical numbing agent to make all filler injections as comfortable as possible. Most clients report little more than some mild discomfort.
  • How long do the results last for each treatment?
For neurotoxins (ex. Botox), results may take up to 2 weeks after treatment to fully show. Results usually last 3-4 months, but this varies with each person. The effects of dermal fillers are noticeable immediately after the procedure. The length of time that results last varies based on the person as well as the product used. Most clients’ results last for 6-18 months, or even longer.
  • How much product will I need, and how much does each treatment cost?
The amount of product needed and cost of treatment will depend on the severity of the area(s) being treated and what amount will produce your desired results. To know your estimated amount of product and pricing before you book, please either call us or book a free 15-minute virtual consultation.
