In my last blog, I gave a few tips on how busy moms can practice emotional self-care. But the mind and body are both important. Today we’re going to talk about taking care of your body, even when you’re running around like a mad woman trying to take care of everybody’s needs.

Your needs are just as important, and maintaining a healthy body is an essential part of a self-care routine. Check out these quick and easy tips to help your body feel loved by its most important person—you!

1.Exercise In Short Bursts

As a mom, it can be hard to find time to get down to the gym for a yoga class or a session on the treadmill. The good news is that exercising doesn’t need to take all day! Even spending 20 minutes working with home equipment, doing a Youtube Zumba class, or taking a walk around the neighborhood can make a huge difference. Your body will thank you!

2.Sleep On Your Back

Sleep is so important—that’s so basic that I probably don’t need to tell you here. But how you sleep is also important, especially when it comes to looking young and healthy. After UV rays, squishing your face against the pillow is the next biggest cause of wrinkles. Sleeping on your back is an easy and painless way to take years off your face and help you feel great!

3.Keep Fresh Water Around

This one is almost as basic as needing sleep. Of course you need to be getting proper hydration. The problem is that a busy mom on the go often doesn’t have access to clean water. It’s not like everywhere you go has a water fountain. Fill up a multi-use water bottle and carry it around with you. Leave bottles of water in places you are busiest and need it most.

4.Think Positive Thoughts

Wait, Dr. G! Are you sure this belongs in the category of physical self-care? Actually, yes! Numerous studies have shown that positive thinking actually improves your physical health. Try leaving yourself reminders around the house that help you focus your thoughts. Every time you see one, try to think of something optimistic or that makes you happy. You’ll be surprised what a difference it makes!

5.Consider Anti-Aging Treatments

Getting anti-aging treatments can be a great way to look more well rested and youthful. Come see me at MirrorMirror MD Luxury Aesthetics MedSpa between May 1-19 — all mothers get 10% off total services for Mother’s Day. Removing wrinkles and adding volume can be a great way to practice physical self-care, and keep you looking and feeling great!

Happy Mother’s Day! Take good care of yourself and stop by for more tips from your good friend, Dr. G!
